Demand for applications is growing faster than developers can keep up with: Microsoft expects 500 million new apps to be created in the next five years. That’s more mobile apps than have been built in the past 40 years!

Developers can’t keep up with this pace. How can your organization solve the shortfall, keep up with the competition, and develop the apps you need?

A new age for apps

Today, many mobile apps are low code applications, and the percentage of low-code apps is growing even faster than the total number of new mobile apps.

It’s expected that by 2024, no less than 65% of all apps will be developed with low-code solutions that are simple to build and enable organizations to bridge the growing application gap.

Microsoft’s offer is Power Platform – a comprehensive low-code and no-code development solution that allows companies to quickly build applications or chatbots, improve processes, gain insights and organize work differently. Power Platform opens up a world of low-code development opportunities for employees to build their own apps using a range of tools and simple building blocks.

At Sogeti, we offer a range of services to enable organizations to scale up and secure their use of Power Platform and drive maximum value from the solution. We can advise customers on how to deploy and optimize the platform; train employees to work with it; implement it; manage it, and; integrate it with legacy systems. Whatever your Power Platform ambition, Sogeti can help you achieve it.

What’s possible with Power Platform?

Power Platform enables employees without development experience to build their own mobile apps using familiar codes, systems and applications such as SQL, Common Data Service and Sharepoint.

An example might be a time-registration app that allows employees and home workers to indicate on their mobile device who works, when and where during periods of home-working. Power Apps – those created in Power Platform – are simple, disposable app experiences that solve repetitive, manual problems.

Asset management is another focus area for Power Platform – enabling administrators to develop apps to keep keep track of who uses company resources like cars and laptops, and how. At Sogeti, for example, we developed an asset management Power App that enables our staff to indicate on their mobile what company digital device they’d like to use, and when. The app uses a barcode scanner to enable simple, accurate tracking of each asset.

Simplifying self-service

At Sogeti, we’ve worked extensively with Dutch financial services provider Rabobank to embrace, drive value from and manage their use of Power Platform.

Rabobank staff are encouraged to use Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate within their Microsoft systems to automate tasks, draw insights and create reports. Rabobank can monitor which staff use each tool and dataset, managing company Power Platform activity via a multi-country governance system that Sogeti helped to build.
